Wen-Wen Lindroth, DAUK Chair, for Ada Shen for Chair

I am wholeheartedly endorsing Ada Shen for Chair of Democrats Abroad. While the field of DPCA Chair candidates this year is filled with talent, Ada in particular stands out as the right leader for this pivotal moment, both for the organization and our country.

Since meeting Ada, I have been increasingly impressed with her track record of successful organizing, activism and volunteer leadership. Among her radical achievements, the herculean task of setting up a country committee from scratch in China is truly impressive. Accomplishing something like this takes intelligence, persistence, grit and sacrifice - these are qualities that we need in an International Chair and that Ada can bring in abundance.

From China, Ada went on to lead DA France, implementing improvements in infrastructure, communications and other aspects of this mature country committee. Her successful experience on two continents, in countries with very different American constituencies and needs, demonstrates her breadth and maturity. Her global level work on GOTV, bylaws and governance has few peers in Democrats Abroad.

In terms of diversity and inclusion, which is rightly a new focus for Democrats Abroad, the most direct and effective strategy for embracing difference would be to elect a woman of color like Ada as International Chair. An action like this would go far to accomplish what we all desire: to be truly inclusive and to respect and incorporate minority points of view at all levels of our organization. As a woman of color myself, I know that actions speak louder than words - another reason why I am voting for Ada.

I encourage my fellow DPCA representatives to cast your vote for Ada Shen for International Chair of Democrats Abroad, on the basis of her incomparable combination of experience, accomplishment and character.
